First Blog Award for Stark Raving Bibliophile

September 13, 2009

I am a new book blogger — I’ve had the Stark Raving Bibliophile blog since May, 2009. I was excited to get this cute award from one of my very favorite bloggers — this award from Rebecca at Lost in Books.

The Lemonade Award is a feel good award that shows great attitude or gratitude. Here are the rules for accepting this award:

• Put the Lemonade Award logo on your blog or post.
• Nominate at least 10 blogs that show great attitude or gratitude.
• Link your nominees within your post.
• Let the nominees know they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
• Share the love and link to the person from whom you received the award.

Here are 10 of the many blogs that I find thoroughly enjoyable as well as interesting and inspiring.

  • Jenny at Books, Just Books — She was one of the first people I met in the book-blogosphere. She’s a mom and high school geography teacher — I love her passion for books and for learning about the world.
  • Abby the Librarian is one of the first book bloggers I started reading, when I happened to Google her review of Luna by Julie Anne Peters, a book we were working on in our homeschool at the time. Her calling as a librarian, and her love for children’s and young adult literature, shine through in all her posts.
  • Diane at Bibliophile by the Sea is another favorite book blogger, and I share her love of fiction and memoirs.
  • Queen Bee’s Homeschool Hive is one of my favorite places to visit. A. inspires me with her no-holds barred approach to life and learning. If I could accomplish 1/5 of what she’s doing, I’d be ecstatic. 😉
  • Piseco at Mind Games is a valued friend, even though we’ve never met in the flesh. A. is inspiring because of the way she loves and learns with her kids, and because of the way she’s coped with a LOT of adversity this year.
  • Tara at Periwinkles and Pine is an unschooly-type mom and a gifted photographer and writer. When I look at the pictures on her blog, I feel blessed to be able see the world through her eyes for a moment.
  • Willa at Quotidian is thoughtful, clever, and compassionate, and she’s an amazing mom and writer. Her blogs have been among my all-time favorites throughout the years.
  • Susan at Country Diary is a mom and home educator, and one of the people I look to for wisdom in raising kids with complicated needs.
  • Andrea at Dean’s Academy was one of the first bona fide homeschoolers I knew. I was admiring what she was doing with her kids, without school, way back when I secretly thought homeschooling was a strange alternate lifestyle. 😀 Her blog ALWAYS inspires me because of the fun things she does with her boys.
  • Alicia at Welcome to My Planet is a fairly new discovery. I met her while working on a book tour this summer, and I am blown away by the honest, beautiful way she writes about motherhood and raising kids with complicated needs.
