A New Award

January 30, 2010

I received the Kreativ Blogger Award from SB at Not Too Serious I Hope. Thank you! 🙂
I’m supposed to tell you seven things about myself:
  1. I am totally into Ben and Jerry’s low fat frozen yogurt. Cherry Garcia is my favorite — that stuff is manna from heaven.
  2. I have three living children out of six pregnancies.
  3. I am insanely in love with my kids.
  4. They all have “special needs” of one kind or another. Asperger’s Syndrome and ADHD are in the mix. Sometimes I wish I could parent without all the alphabet soup, but having a label is sometimes helpful. If nothing else, it helps me connect with professionals, and other parents, who “get it.”
  5. I have serious wanderlust. If I had my way, once the kids were grown and we’re retired, I’d never unpack my suitcase.
  6. I have been a stark raving bibliophile since I was old enough to hold a book — I begged my dad to teach me to read long before I was ready.
  7. As proof that God has a sense of humor, none of my kids are big readers. (Well, the middle child is discovering a love of audiobooks, which I think is very cool, and it’s too soon to tell about the youngest.) They have opened my eyes to the merits of other kinds of media, though, like video games and quirky indie films.
I’d like to pass it along to these creative bloggers:
  1. Mama Games at Mind Games – bookworm and homeschooling mom extraordinaire. I am so inspired by the things she does with her kids.
  2. Amanda at The Zen Leaf – thoughtful book reviewer and lifelong learner. Among the interesting things she’s doing are coordinating the GLBT Reading Challenge and exploring other cultures.
  3. Jennifer at Reading With Tequila – well, for the name of her blog, and for the tequila shots — instead of stars — she awards books she reviews. And because her book blog is an interesting mix of reviews, discussions, games and contests.
  4. Tara at Periwinkles and Pine – for her joyful approach to living and learning with her son and her magnificent photography.
  5. Nancy at Away We Go – a terrific writer and humorist, kinda like Erma Bombeck with an edge.
  6. Cristina at Home Spun Juggling – one of the most creative ladies I know — a terrific writer, artist, cartoonist, and home educating mama.
  7. Adesa at My Two Homeboys – a talented writer and artist and an inspiring unschooling mom — I love the way she nurtures her kids’ passions and translates their spontaneous everyday activities into educator-speak.
